New striking strokes

6 December 2021

Band: WET LEG
Who: Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers
from England’s Isle Of Wight.

Rhian Teasdale: “Wet Leg is sad music for party people, and party music
for sad people. It is cathartic and joyful and punk and scuzzy and above all,
it’s fun. Wet Leg was originally just supposed to be funny. As a woman, there’s
so much put on you, in that your only value is how pretty or cool you look. But
we want to be goofy and a little bit rude. We want to write songs that people
can dance to. And we want to people to have a good time, even if that might
not possible all of the time.”

New tracks: TOO LATE NOW and OH NO
Two new pieces from their self-titled upcoming debut LP, out 8 April 2022

One of the blindsiding sensations of 2021. Wet Leg took our pandemic world
by storm last summer with their gee-whiz debut single Chaise Longue (more
than 1 million views on YouTube!), followed it up with touching yourself earworm
Wet Dream.

They just shared two other new firecrackers to confirm that they are for real and
are here to stay, whether you like it or not. TOO LATE NOW and OH NO show again
why the two bizarro ladies are IT.

You just can’t resist their amplified twist and turn pop avidity,
their hilarious deadpan stories, and their drop-dead-cool presence.

New striking strokes

3 December 2021

Artist: DMITRY WILD
Who: Rocker, poet, writer
and actor from New York

New Single: DON’T NEED ANYBODY

“‘Don’t Need Anybody’ offers an introspection and resolution that you don’t need anybody’s approval, digital or physical, for you to accept yourself for who you are. Also, to really truly live, all you need is some time, peace and your own soul to guide you an emotion that gets yelled out through the microphone.”

(pic by The Rostislaff)

Score: The sassy swagger of The Strokes, the gusto blues groove of The Black Keys and a Chuck Berry guitar solo. That should do it to get your muscles, your bloodstream and your epinephrine production activated. Rock ‘n’ roll never ages, never fades, never downgrades. Ask Dmitry Wild, he knows all the tricks to have yourself a ball in your living room while nobody’s looking. Me, myself, and I for 155 seconds. Go for it, folks…

THE LINDA LINDAS Have A Cat Playing Piano On New Single Called ‘NINO’

3 December 2021

The half Asian/half Latinx family (sisters, cousins and some friends) calling
themselves THE LINDA LINDAS went viral on YouTube last May with a loud
and clear
power-pop song called Racist, Sexist Boy played live a Los Angeles
Library
(watch here).

The cool teenagers followed it
up with catchy single Oh!

And now they have a special one. It’s about frontgirl Bela‘s cat
Nino that was jealous of Bela‘s other cat Monica that already got
a Linda Lindas song last year.

The LLs: “If you listen carefully, there is a real-life, remarkably talented
cat named Lil Dude playing piano on ‘Nino’. We have the footage! Enjoy!

While waiting for that footage,
let’s miaow here along with Nino

Riding Rapper On A Restless Roll – Listen To New JAMES DOMESTIC Single ‘PUSH ON THROUGH’

New striking strokes

1 December 2021

Artist: JAMES DOMESTIC
Who: Member of former hardcore gangs The Domestics), plus Pi$$er,
Tokyo Lungs
and half a dozen more. He’s a poet, DJ, singer/songwriter,
doctorate owner, producer, and inspirator of young punk bands. Wow!

New single: PUSH ON THROUGH
Second shared taster, after the vitriolic lead
single Faze Out, of his upcoming debut LP

Turn Up The Volume: Remember those scenes of the iconic 1976 movie
Taxidriver with that desperate guy character called Travis (played by living
legend Robert De Niro) wandering around in his taxi at night in the mean
streets of New York City looking for clients?

James Domestic has that kind of long, companionless car drives too, not in a dirty
town but rather on one of those endless roads in the country with ‘Push On Trough
on the radio. A fitting moody Sleaford Mods like jam on a raw roll. Motored with
keyed-up organs, screechy guitars, and observing rapping. Loneliness in motion.

Poetallica Duo THE CHRONICLES OF MANIMAL AND SAMARA Honor SYLVIA PLATH

New striking strokes

29 November 2021

Band: THE CHRONICLES OF MANIMAL AND SAMARA

Who: London-based duo – Daphne Ang (Singapore) and
Andrea Papi
(Italy) – that fills a gap in music by bringing
literature, art, and history together into a space where
rock and metal meet electronica.

New single: THE PROPHET

“Our tribute to Sylvia Plath‘s poem, Lady Lazarus. Told through the
eyes of an advanced A.I robot who is “resurrected” with a destructive
super-intelligence, the song petitions for the ethical use of Artificial
Intelligence technologies to remind us that if we are not careful, we
might find ourselves with a technology that destroys the civilisation
that invented it – us.”

Turn Uo The Volume: We know by now that Samara and Manimal’s
musical virtuosity expresses itself in combining in an organically way
their love for poetry and metal helter-skelter in an original way.

The Prophet (remarkable artwork again) is a slow-burning torch with
hellish flare-ups of Rammstein‘s Götterdämmerung hysterics and roaring
rock riffage while Samara‘s spoken-word ode to the legendary American
confessional poet/writer Sylvia Plath hypnotizes and magnetizes.

Another capricious corker.

Lyrics

Today is the day
All the world is watching
The greatest show
Ever shown

The crowd is swelling
Barricades are bursting
A great gathering
The big maggot parade

Ladies and lesser men
Seekers of mysteries
You are about to witness
The greatest miracle
Ever performed

Behold
She returns
From the world beyond
Fresh from the crucible
Rise, Lazarus, rise

The Prophet

London Trio LITTLE VICTORIES Strikes A Chord With Soul-Stirring Single ‘LOVE GETS ME DOWN’

New striking strokes

26 November 2021

Band: LITTLE VICTORIES (London, UK)
Who: British three-piece, alt pop band laced with dancing guitars, twin vocals and a homemade 6 string bass. A kaleidoscope of genres, the band is a one stop shop for all your emotional needs calling on influences such as The 1975, Bon Iver and Oh Wonder. Consisting of three different musical souls, Marcus Gooda, Nay Shalom and Sam Rose, collectively the trio pen relatable music with the hopes to connect with audiences
around the world.

New single: LOVE BRINGS ME DOWN

A confessional track detailing a rough patch with mental health
whilst the people around you can’t or don’t understand why.

“We wanted to be personal and relatable whilst also keeping
the reasoning ambiguous,
explained the band.

Score: Only the trio’s second single.

Mental problems, still a difficult issue to talk about with family and
friends, (as I – unfortunately – know from personal experiences), let
alone with strangers.

I applaud anyone who shouts/sings/writes about it in an empathetic way.
And when you wrap these mind-crushing emotions in an accessible, breezy
and tender-heartened dancey pop tune with soulful twin vocals you have
my support.

Yes, easy-going communication, like pop music, helps
to get attention for sensitive and personal topics like these.

Enjoy this sweet little victory, right here…
