My highlights: About You / Sparky’s Dream / Don’t Look Back / Verisimilitude / Neil Jung / Say No / I’ll Make it Clear…

MOURNING BIRDS ! Whole Lotta Shindy…

cropped-black-kopie.jpg

.
Band: Mourning Birds
Members: Jimmy Gilder (guitar/Vocals), Sam Mitchell (drums/vocals) and Bill Williams (bass guitar)
Home: Medway, South East England
Track: ‘Leave Me Alone’ – newest single…
How was it for me: this British power trio already produced some badass garage ballbreakers (see Bandcamp link further on) – the new one is another blues rock sledgehammer – ferocious rumble and steamy drones for starters – suddenly tempo and noise go down as if singer Jimy Gilder is wondering how he can convey his message crystal clear – but before you can say ‘Mourning Birds rule’ he’s screaming ‘Leave Me Alooooooone’ at the top of his lungs and the band rushes (they never pass the 3 minute mark) to a frenzied finale – towering stuff!
The video: watch it loud…

THE STONES ROSES ! History – 25 years ago..

BackTime

STONEROSES SPIKEISLAND-800

Spike Island is an island in the estuary of the River Mersey, in North West England, flanked by the Sankey Canal was the site of a famous outdoor concert by the legendary The Stone Roses on May 27, 1990. With a crowd of 27,000, the show in this once-industrial area of Widnes in Cheshire has become the stuff of Madchester legend, rhapsodised, euologised, recounted ad infinitum. Millions claimed to be there. A certain Liam Gallagher attended the ‘once in a lifetime’ gig and decided right there, right then that he wanted to form a band and be a rock ‘n roll star. Noel, his brother, was there too: “It wasn’t actually a good gig, but the vibes were awesome, everybody on drugs and we all had the feeling of being part of a truly unique event…”
